6 Ways to Repurpose Your Flowers

“What do I do with all these flowers after the wedding?”

I get asked this questions often.. flowers at your wedding are a big expense and it’s hard to imagine that you get to enjoy them just for the evening. What happens to them after that?

Here are 6 of my favorite ways to repurpose your wedding flowers.

1: SEND THEM HOME WITH YOUR GUESTS!

This is my absolute favorite way to repurpose your wedding flowers. You paid for them and you should enjoy them. Normally your vases are rentals meaning that you can’t send the vase home with you guests. To solve this problem, buy some galvanized buckets off amazon. Towards the end of the night have your event coordinator place the galvanized buckets on a table and start pulling the arrangements, placing the flowers into the buckets for your guests to take home and enjoy. Promise, they will LOVE this!

2: USE THEM THE NEXT DAY AT YOUR BRUNCH

If you’re planning on having a brunch the following morning to open presents and enjoy the newly wed bliss with some close family and friends, use the centerpieces from the wedding as decorations on your brunch tables. If you’re brunch is planned at a different location then your reception venue, you may have to make plans with your florist to pick up them up and redeliver them or have a family member pack them up for the night.

3: USE YOUR CENTERPIECES THE NIGHT BEFORE THE WEDDING AT THE REHEARSAL DINNER.

You’ll need to plan this with your florist to have the centerpieces delivered to the rehearsal dinner and pick up that night. The nice thing about this option is getting a glimpse at how beautiful your wedding is going to be and your florist will have the flowers to “fluff” the arrangements the next day to make sure they are still fresh.

4: DRY YOUR FLOWERS.

Once you get home, hang your flowers upside down in a dry and dark area until they’re dry. You can try using hairspray to hold the flowers in place or stop by your local Michaels and buys a can of the UV Ultra protectant. Enjoy your bouquet for much longer.

5: PRESS YOUR FLOWERS.

This is a great option to enjoy a few beautiful blooms in a special way after the wedding. Pull out a few beautiful stems, place in-between a few heavy books and wax paper, and let the flowers flatten. Once they’re to your liking pick out a picture frame to place them in and enjoy.

I chose a picture frame big enough to place a few blooms, my husbands pressed bout, ribbon from the bouquet and fabric from my mom’s dress that I used to wrap my bouquet with. I love having this hung on the wall to look at and remember this amazing day.

6: SEND YOUR BOUQUET TO FROZEN CREEK FLORAL

I just discovered this place and love this concept and idea. This little shop is located in Michigan and they will freeze your bouquet in time for you. It’s a beautiful way to preserve your bouquet and admire it for many years to come.

Your wedding is a very special day that goes by all to fast. I hope these few ideas help you enjoy a little piece of wedding day just a little bit longer.

Cheers,

H
